Here we go again, Covid: Ghettos and lepers and O Mi Cron!
Congrats to Australia. Just coming out of 262 days of lockdowns. But wait. Here comes Omicron! And here comes government to save us. And sadly, so many want to be saved.
Australia has opened…sort of.
“However, stores selling non-essential goods won’t open until 80% of the state is double vaccinated and masks are required inside and out.”
Oh so the non-vaccinated will be the cause of keeping non-essential closed (I love that term – humans deciding that some are more essential than others – usually government employees are essential) Nothing like putting a mark of Cain or the sign of the leper on these people.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) declared a state of emergency Friday in response to a cold-weather surge of coronavirus infections and the threat of the newly detected omicron variant, making her state one of the first in the country to impose measures against the mutation that was recently sequenced in southern Africa.
Remember back 2 years? It started with a 2 week lockdown to flatten the curve. It’s all about the greater good. Dear self-righteous, sanctimonious, self-serving Liberals – you talk about caring for the other. Until the other makes you uncomfortable. So you stood with the rules about lockdowns which wiped out the poorest amongst us. Their family businesses destroyed while all were advised to go the big box stores – it would be safer there. Really? It’s OK for hundreds to pile into Walmart – some having to take public transit to get there; you were OK with that. And the shutting down of houses of worship where people with addictions met regularly. But the liquor store and cannabis stores remained open. And suicide went up as did opioid overdose and mental illness.
Well, as we open up and let those non-essential people come back into the world, we are not done. Those unvaccinated! How dare they? We need to mark them with the Mark of Cain, or a leper. They shall not be allowed to be out and about with us!
So sanctimonious have we become that now in Alberta, Canada, a truly virtuous and sanctimonious landlord has decided that you must be vaccinated to rent an apartment. Those unvaccinated lepers!
But wait. The fascism keeps on rolling. “Seems 70 percent of Canadians take a harsh line against the unvaccinated. Canadians continue to support firing the unvaccinated even if that included getting rid of airline employees, school teachers, police officers, firefighters and medical professionals. Not stopping there, 64 percent of Canadians thought that restaurant workers should be fired for being unvaccinated, while 53 percent thought this should be extended to small business employees.”
Let’s put them in ghettos!
Fifty-eight per cent of British residents support the imposition of lockdown restrictions of the unvaccinated. Germany is planning to impose a lockdown on the unvaccinated. The move, if implemented, follows Austria’s lockdown measures that exclusively apply to those who have not taken the COVID-19 vaccine.
A YouGov poll found that nearly seven in ten German adults are in favour of legally forcing all individuals within the country to take the vaccine. In total, 69 per cent are in favour of “general compulsory vaccination” according to the poll. Of those, 19 per cent said that they would tend to support implementing the measure, while 50 per cent responded that they would “fully” support the implementation of mandatory vaccination against Covid-19. In Austria, if people are not fully vaccinated by February, 2022 they will face fines, as well as possible imprisonment.
In the meantime, officials in Austria say police patrols and checks will be stepped up and unvaccinated people can be fined up to $1,660 if they violate the lockdown. The lockdown impacts about 2 million Austrians. Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg said his aim (by hook or by crook) is to increase the number of those who take the jab.
Former Secretary of Education Arne Duncan took to Twitter to praise Austria’s controversial decision to lock down unvaccinated citizens due to an uptick in COVID-19 cases, raising questions on whether a similar policy could be embraced by other countries.
Ahh, yes. America, home of the brave land of the free. Went to war to fight the fascism on hitler, but let’s praise Austria.
And now, Oh my God, we have Omicron.
Borders are closed in Africa but Dr Angelique Coetzee, the South Africa Head of the medical Association says,
“It may be it’s highly transmissible, but so far the cases we are seeing are extremely mild. Maybe two weeks from now I will have a different opinion, but this is what we are seeing. So are we seriously worried? No. We are concerned and we watch what’s happening. But for now we’re saying, ‘OK: there’s a whole hype out there. [We’re] not sure why.’”
But fear not. Pope Fauci to the rescue of Pfizer.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, says not to let your guard down as the omicron variant, a new strain of COVID-19, spreads internationally.
“I would not be surprised if it is. We have not detected it yet, but when you have a virus that is showing this degree of transmissibility and you’re already having travel-related cases that they’ve noted in Israel and Belgium and other places, when you have a virus like this, it almost invariably is ultimately going to go essentially all over.”
And so close to Christmas.
Who knew? I did. I know I keep repeating, but go back in history to Nazi Germany. Why did all those enlightened Germans bow down to hitler?
It took a war to take down hitler and fascism.
