I have read the comments of four Muslim leaders regarding Jawed Anwar’s Islamic Party of Ontario. I am sharing them with you so you can decide for yourself: Is Sharia Law a poisonous idea?

Mohammed Hashim is a Founding Advisor of Progress Toronto, a Senior Organizer for the Toronto and York Region Labour Council, a Board Member of the Urban Alliance and a crisis communications consultant for the Muslim community. He co-founded the Muslim Youth Fellowship.

He says  “the platform (Islamic Party of Ontario) is homophobic, misogynistic and surely does not represent my Islam.”

Ibrahim Hindy is the Imam of Dar Al-Tawheed Islamic Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. He referred to the policies of the Islamic Party of Ontario as “trash.”

Amira Elghawaby is a founding board member of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, the Silk Road Institute and as an advisor to the Muslim Fellows in Toronto. Between 2012 to the fall of 2017 Amira Elghawaby served as a human rights officer and later, as director of communications, at the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM).

She referred to Jawed Anwar’s Islamic Party of Ontario as a “stupid idea” and “nobody needs this nonsense.”

Based in Surrey, British Columbia AlAmeen newspaper is “a news reporting agency” that “strives to maintain its news contents purely in accordance with the Islamic teachings.”

On January 9, 2019 AlAmeen published an editorial titled “One Man Show not a Muslim Political Party.”

They share their fears of the policies of the Islamic Party of Ontario:

“…we end up being projected as someone as backward religion from the stone-ages. Basically, it does more harm than good to Canadian Muslims… Their [Islamic Party of Ontario] website, under “Policy” their manifesto tab presents the extreme right-wing Muslim agenda.”

The editorial states that Anwar shared “poisonous views (which) he presents under the name of Islam and Muslims that could be used to fuel hatred, fear, and anxiety against Canadian Muslims.”

Let’s take a look at the Principles and Policy presented by the Islamic Party of Ontario to learn what it is that these four Muslims referred to as “homophobic, misogynistic, stupid, poisonous, trash, nonsense.”

The Islamic Party of Ontario believes in “Supremacy of God” and understands that it is our constitutional requirement to make all the rule of laws of Provinces and Federal in obedience and according to the will of God.

Believing in God’s Supremacy means believing in His Oneness, His Authority, and His Obedience in all spheres of life…

We understand and believe that Islam is the native DEEN of Ontario and Canada…

To achieve the objective, Islamic Party of Ontario will follow the peaceful and democratic means provided by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom…

Neither right nor left, Islam is the straight path. It balances human life…

The sexual relationship is only between men and women…

Allah has created two genders: men and women. Any physical defect in any organ of a person doesn’t change one’s gender identification and sexual orientation. All the communities of all the faiths believe in it; modern science proves it. The concept of “gender identity” or “seven-colour gender” is a false concept…

No artificial and irresponsible approach to stop the birth of children at any stage should be allowed. We believe in a complete ban on abortion except in a situation when a mother’s life is in danger.

Measures should be taken to stop suicide, including doctor-assisted suicide of patients…

Obscenity, vulgarity, nudity, and perversion must be checked.

Liquor, drugs, adultery, gambling, etc. should be banned in society…

Interest-free economy: Interest is the main source of exploitation. It sucks the blood of the poor (labor, worker) to establish a class of super-rich. Islamic economy facilitates to balance it and provides a culture of charity and human brotherhood and sisterhood…

A strict law will be suggested to ban blasphemy of any religious (all) symbols and personalities…

The rights of animals are to be maintained… They have the right to be slaughtered in the halal fashion.

Are these views Islamophobic? Is it Islamophobic to repeat the observations made by Muslim leaders on the  Sharia law-based political platform of the Ontario Islamic party? Their statements prove, once again, that M-103, the anti-Islamophobia Motion, was born in sin and must be repealed.
