Pregnant women have worried about taking their antidepressants during pregnancy. There is an article in the Glob and Mail, Oct.10, 2012, that speaks to these concerns.

The National Post reports October 31, 2012 about a mother who killed her two infant children. It seems that she was worried about taking her anti-depressants during pregnancy and while nursing. She took herself off her medications with the second pregnancy even though she suffered post partum depression after the first child. Read!

Whatever you decide, don’t get advice from your mother or your girlfriend. Speak to a psychiatrist who specializes in antidepressants and pregnancy.

Family doctors and obstetricians might not be completely up-to-date on the most recent studies.

Always remember to tell your physician all the medications you take and that includes over -the-counter and  “natural” ones. They are not always innocuous because of interactions.
