The burden of mental illness and addictions in our society is said to be more than 1.5 times that of all cancers. This comes from the report Opening Eyes, Opening Minds. Diagnosing early can prevent many of these burdens as mental illness tends to manifest between the ages of 18 and 24 affecting the future work force.
The report reinforces the importance of early diagnosis.
