“We have made great strides in securing legal rights for the LGBTQ2 community in Canada – from enshrining equality rights in the Charter to the passage of the Civil Marriage Act. But the fight to end discrimination is not over and a lot of hard work still needs to be done. Canadians know our country is made stronger because of our diversity, not in spite of it.”

Excerpts from the book Minhaj-Al-Muslim by Abu Bakr Al-Jazairy (purchased at the Islamic Circle of North America’s bookstore in Toronto) speak to homosexuality in Islam.
“The Hadd [fixed punishment] of homosexuality is stoning to death. The methods of killing them (the two who committed the homosexual act) that have been related from the Companions have differed. From among them, there were those who burned them with fire. Others among them killed them by stoning them with stones. Ibn ‘Abbas said about them. “The highest building in the village should be sought, then they should be thrown from it upside down (i.e. on their heads)

It is irrational to view Islam as inferior to the West – barbaric, irrational, primitive, sexist.
It is irrational to view Islam as violent, aggressive, threatening, supportive of terrorism, engaged in ‘a clash of civilisations’.
It is irrational to view Islam as a political ideology, used for political or military advantage.
It is irrational to reject out of hand criticisms of ‘the West’ made by Islam
It is irrational to use hostility towards Islam to justify discriminatory practices towards Muslims and exclude Muslims from mainstream society.
It is irrational to accept anti-Muslim hostility as natural and ‘normal.’
