E.L.Doctorow takes us on a trip through the mind of Andrew. I won't be spoiling the book by telling you Andrew has a mental illness. This book is anxiety provoking. A good thing. Great literature should provoke a sense of anxiety because it means we are questioning: old beliefs, values. Life. This book asks us to think about mental illness from the inside out-yes mental illness has a genetic pre-disposition but what else affects the way we see the world. I recommend this book to all who want another way to understand mental illness and the people we love.
