Some people are so proudly antisemitic you don’t need to guess. Neo-Nazis come to mind. Louis Farrakhan, Linda Sarsour, Britain’s one and only Jeremy Corbyn. And far too many Imams to name.
But there is another kind of antisemitism that is more covert and dangerous because it comes from main stream media. These “journalists” find a way to associate Jews with evil or turn Israel into a pariah state. More subtle and far more dangerous and pernicious because it IS the main stream media. And, often, the Jew hatred is just slipped in when least expected but gets ingrained in the brain. And further enforces already present antisemitism; the oldest evil of all.
Take for instance, Doug Saunders.
Doug Saunders wrote an article: The new assassins and countries getting away with cross border murder.
“Today’s assassins are comparatively incompetent, sometimes comically so, at concealing their identities and nationalities. And their governments don’t appear to care much about secrecy – perhaps deliberately.” Saunders explains; “Rather than fearing retribution from the other side, these regimes currently enjoy support and backing from the United States, or at least from President Donald Trump, who studiously avoids voicing any criticism of the world’s major strongman regimes.”
He gives examples. Saudi Arabia and their alleged involvement in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi Consulate in Turkey. Then of course “ Two Russian men, charged with the nerve poisoning of former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia Skripal in Britain. “ Kim Jong-nam, the stepbrother of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, died suddenly of horrific nerve poisoning at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia in February, 2017.” Not a surprise. Kim Jung-Un ordered it.
Saunders suggests that these murders are not kept secret as in the days of the Cold war.
In all of these cases, the intelligence agencies did surprisingly little to conceal the nationality or motive of the attacks; it was all dagger and hardly any cloak. In comparison with the sort of killings known during the Cold War as “active measures,” these appear barely competent. But that lack of secrecy may be intentional.
Shockingly ( she said sarcastically), Saunders blames Donald Trump.
“Trump administration strictly refuses to utter any criticism of illegal actions or abuses by Russia, North Korea, the Philippines, Israel, Egypt or Saudi Arabia means that these regimes know they can mete out punishments across international borders that would have turned them into pariah states in earlier eras.”
Take note of the countries he has clustered together. Russia, North Korea, the Philippines, Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Did you catch it in there in the mix? Israel. Doug Saunders has decided that Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East and most of Africa, belongs with autocratic, despotic, theocratic countries. It’s one of the “world’s major strongman regimes.” Who knew?
He just slipped it in there. Israel is one of those pariah states. Well he might have that correct. If you follow the resolutions from the UN that attack Israel one could believe that Israel is THE pariah state. So why would Saunders throw in Israel? A Jewish state, perhaps? The only state where democracy flourishes. Israel can’t spit without some government or agency investigating. But Saunders decided that Israel belongs with the worst of the worst-well not the worst of the worst. Saunders left out China. And Iran. Why not? Iran calls for the death of Israel on a daily basis.
So the most important question that needs to be asked “why do these people, like Doug Saunders, choose to attack Israel whenever possible?” What could it be? Wait for it. Text book Jew-hatred. Innate, endemic, systemic hatred for Jews and the Jewish state. Nothing new here, folks. I am going to say it. Doug Saunders is a world class antisemite. And he is given a voice in the Globe and Mail. An editor read this and accepted it and agrees that Israel should be included in a list of bad actor countries where their despotic leaders call for the murder of their citizens.
