NDP Citizenship and Immigration Critic, MPP Teresa Armstrong (London-Fanshawe) introduced on September 26, 2016 a bill in the legislature to establish October as Islamic Heritage Month in Ontario, “as part of the NDP’s plan to fight islamophobia.”
So much effort put into promoting Islam by this government. Yet, Islam is not so peaceful, so friendly, so empathetic, so compassionate as you and your cohorts doth proclaim.
Muslim Dawah (outreach, “call to Islam”) activists at Toronto’s Dundas Square distributed during recent years a variety of Islamic literature.
The following are the highlights of some of Islamic books/booklets which were obtained by CIJnews:
· Homosexuality is a major sin
· ‘Liberated’ Western women… are trapped in a form of slavery
· Polygamy is permitted in certain conditions
· Wife must obey the “commands” of her husband
· Wife beating is permissible in certain conditions (“Submissive or subdued women… may even enjoy being beaten”)
· Muslims have a duty to spread the message of Islam in society
· Prayers to Allah to give Muslims victory over the disbelievers
· Non-Muslims of an Islamic State have to pay the jizya (poll-tax) tax
· Punishment of flogging for public intoxication and traffickers
· Punishment of stoning to death for married adulterers
· Punishments of amputation (hand and leg), crucifixion and execution in serious crimes
· Punishment of cutting off the hand for the thief
· Punishment of execution for apostates
· Possession of slaves is permissible in certain conditions.
And then there is Iran. From the editorial board of the National Post September 28, 2016 “If anything, Tehran’s mullahs delight in displaying their contempt for the sort of Western, democratic values Canada espouses.”
“The Iranian justice system violates the rule of law we so cherish by malevolent theocratic design.”
“Friendly relations with the Iranian regime are not appropriate. It is sensible to have diplomatic relations, even with obnoxious governments, precisely because we cannot remake the world as we might like. But it is not sensible to blind ourselves to their true nature…”
You are planning to teach Islam to our impressionable young people. Saudi Arabia-Sunni and Iran- Shiite promote the same beliefs: homophobia, misogyny, intolerance to non-Muslims especially the Jews. And there is Iran’s call for death to Israel and death to the West-that would be Canada. We are warned by our governments not to antagonize Muslims by saying anything negative-for fear we will trigger a terrorist attack-is that not black mail?
Why do you promote this ethic? Have you promoted the ethic that underpins Western Culture? Do you know the ethic that underpins our freedoms? The ethic for which so many Canadians died to protect? Do our students know this ethic?
It is the Judeo/Christian ethic that is the foundation of our Culture. And it is diametrically opposed to the ethic of Islam-Sharia Law, yet you want to teach that ethic to our children. Should not teaching our children our ethic be the priority in a world where terrorism in the name of Islam has taken over the world?
You say “New Democrats recognize that increasing islamophobia is a reality in Ontario, and through this bill we are taking action to fight it through education and engagement.”
Where are your statistics? The only rise in hate crime of which I am aware is Jew-hatred-everywhere, particularly on campus. Please show me your data that proves you correct.
You write “The provincial government can help support the fight against ignorance and hatred by promoting dialogue, conversation, questions, and knowledge about Ontario’s Islamic heritage. Everyone deserves to feel safe and accepted for who they are in our province.” Again, show me the statistics. And then tell me what you plan to do about the Jew hatred in this country. And how ironic isn’t it that the people most hated in this country are the Jews-the people who gave us this ethic that is invoked in the BNA Act 1867, the Bill of Rights 1960 and the 1987 Charter of Human rights and Freedoms.
You continue to say that Islam is compatible with the West despite the fact that leading Muslim authorities say otherwise.
This is what Islamic scholars say:
ICNA (Islamic Circle of North America) Canada is an Islamic nation wide organization striving “to build an Exemplary Canadian Muslim Community” by “total submission to Him [Allah] and through the propagation of true and universal message of Islam. ”It emphasizes that “the propagation of true and universal message of Islam is only possible in Canada when whole Canadian Muslim Community transformed into a Dawah community by practicing and propagating the true Islamic Way of Life. With the vision of building an exemplary Canadian Muslim community it is very important to spread the word of Islam…”
On its official website ICNA Canada shares with its members, followers and supporters the book Riyad us Saliheen” where it says “The political system of Islam is totally incompatible with western democracy.”
“The concept of government party and the opposition is alien to Islam.”
“All belong to one Ummah with only one goal and pursue the same aims and objects of Islamic guidelines!”
Shaykh Muhammad Sa’id Ramadan al-Buti until his recent death, was the leading Islamic scholar in Syria, professor and a retired Dean at the College of Islamic Law at Damascus University. He is the author ofJurisprudence of the Prophetic Biography, regarded as one of the best Prophetic biographies written in the 20th century. He wrote:
The theory that our religion is a peaceful and loving religion is a wrong theory. The Holy war as it is known in Islamic jurisprudence is basically an offensive war, and it is the duty of all Muslims of every age…because our prophet Muhammad said that he is ordered by Allah to fight all people until they say ‘No God but Allah,’ and he is his messenger. It is meaningless to talk about the holy war as only defensive, otherwise, what did the prophet mean when he said, “from now on even if they don’t invade you, you must invade them.”
Modern-day Islamic scholar, Ibrahim Sulaiman, says submission and peace can be very different concepts, even if a form of peace is often brought about through forcing others into submission. “Jihad is not inhumane, despite its necessary violence and bloodshed, its ultimate desire is peace which is protected and enhanced by the rule of law.” Armed responses are only permitted when all peaceful possibilities have failed. And once armed resistance begins it doesn’t stop “until the war lays down its burden” as Allah has mentioned in the Qur’an 47
The late Egyptian scholar, Sayyid Qutb, a prolific,well-respected author whose works are quoted in the Muslim world and influenced members of the Muslim Brotherhood has specifically claimed the conquest of non-Muslim states as “a movement to wipe out tyranny and to introduce true freedom to mankind. A true Muslim not only has no loyalty to any country “where the Islamic Shari’ah is not enforced,” but must be prepared to fight against such countries.
Italy expelled a Muslim cleric who said Islam “fully incompatible” with Italian law. “The decision was taken because the man refused to swear on the constitution before taking up Italian citizenship, arguing that his ultra-conservative Salafist Islam beliefs were “fully incompatible” with Italy’s fundamental laws.”
My government is not only condoning Islam, you are condoning a chill on free speech with you calls against Islamophobia-but not Judeophobia or anti-Christian remarks or actions. Why does Islam need extra protection from negative comments about it-facts that point to its attacks on freedom, attacks on the West while at the same time Islam stops free speech with fatwas?
When you take your oath of allegiance-to what are you pledging? What does it mean to take that oath-to what values? Do you know?
Anyone who promotes an ethic that is diametrically opposed to ours is a traitor to our country. To promote an ethic in this country that undermines our very freedoms: our belief in the obligation to care for the other, to go beyond tribal warfare which is so rampant in the Islamic world; the equal intrinsic value of all people; the sanctity of all life; tolerance for all but not for those who oppose our basic values, is treason.
I look forward to your comments, to your statistics that prove your concerns and I would like to know why there is no Jewish month-teaching our children the origin of the freedoms they still have today.
