When I was 49 I was diagnosed with chronic recurrent depression and anxiety. I also had manic tendencies but was unaware of them at that time. One year later, I went into hospital for minor surgery and came out after two rounds of emergency surgery, with a colostomy bag, deep dark depression and thoughts of suicide.

I was fortunate to have family and friends to lean on. I also had a terrific family doctor, a super psychiatrist and an empathic Spiritual Counselor. Religion and science, hand in hand, helped me to pull myself our of the abyss and back into life.
