I recently spent a whirlwind day in New York. I was there to celebrate the High School graduation of my granddaughter. I was in and out of many taxis, and as I am wont to do, I chatted up the drivers.

There is one driver whose story stays with me. He came from Thailand in 1982. He was the first to leave his family, saying good-bye to his parents to come to America.  He said that the first generation immigrant has it the toughest. I would say that this is true anywhere in the West. He started with nothing. And worked hard. Paid taxes. And, today, he is proud of his two daughters, both nurses, who are married with children. He beamed over that. I can empathize with that story. My father fled a pogrom when he was 13. He came to Canada to be with an older brother. And when he died he had been married almost 50 years. He and my mother lived in the same house for almost 60 years. They buried one child and raised two, giving us the opportunity to go to university. My father lived to love five grandchildren.

This wonderful man told me that America is the greatest country in the world. He said that several times, despite the fact that he has worked very hard and continues to do so. He told me that when he left Thailand chicken was a treat-once a year. We talked about supermarkets in America. He couldn’t believe what he saw in them the first time.  Walk into a store and everything you need is right there for you.

I have read many stories about immigrants from third world countries and their first experiences in first world countries. I know that this is an extraordinary experience for them. Too many citizens in the West take this all for granted.  It’s become an entitlement. There are many from the third world who are beside themselves when they see restrooms with clean toilets and toilet paper. Toilet paper that is free!

My new friend from Thailand told me that the poorest in America are far better off than most in countries like Thailand. And we forget that.

And then he said to me, without any prompting because I had promised I would not talk politics, that Trump loves America. He said that several times. TRUMP LOVES AMERICA.  He said Trump is not in government to make money; he has money. Trump cares about people like him. And then he talked about illegal immigration. He said these people come in and they get food stamps. Free stuff.  And that others don’t pay taxes. They work for low wages while he works and pays taxes. He is opposed to illegal immigration. This from a first generation immigrant.

Wonder what he thought about Nancy Pelosi defending MS13. Although she does not say their name, she is referring To President Trump’s statement about MS13 gang members: “They are animals.”

This photo shows people protesting for the rights of illegal immigrants-opening the doors to all-by  conflating legal with illegal immigrants.

He continued to talk about his gratitude for being in America.

As he was talking I was thinking about the FBI agent who had referred to Trump followers as “POS.” And of course there was Hillary and her “Deplorables.” This hard-working, grateful man would be considered  one of those “POS’s and Deplorables.”

“Trump’s supporters are all poor to middle class, uneducated, lazy POS that think he will magically grant them jobs for doing nothing. They probably didn’t watch the debates, aren’t fully educated on his policies, and are stupidly wrapped up in his unmerited enthusiasm.”

In one rant this FBI employee showed the view of the Progressives toward regular Americans; the hard working first and second generation immigrants and the working poor. “These people” are too stupid to vote. And then these same people call Trump a dictator? These are people who want to interfere in the election to elect the “right” person-in their eyes. That is not anything close to a democracy.

This unnamed person at the FBI is the poster boy for the elites. He represents the globalists who seek a new type of world order with a handful of elites running the world-EU, G7, UN, and the Progressives. The disdain for the people like this wonderful taxi driver oozes out of this employee’s  mouth. Lazy? Wrapped in unmerited enthusiasm? Seems to me it’s the Progressives who are stupidly wrapped in unmerited enthusiasm for Hillary Clinton and the Democratic party.

I wish there had been a debate amongst the Democrats like Adam Schiff, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Barack Obama, and this taxi driver.  Let them explain to him their love for illegal aliens taking away work from legal Americans, giving free food and health care to illegal aliens; as if they had equal rights to American citizens, especially the people who followed the laws to enter America and its promise.  It would be great to see their faces when face to face with a real American,  a man who worked hard for his family, to give them the best he could because of the opportunities available in the greatest country in the world, shared his views.

Oh, to have seen that.
