“No passion so effectually robs the mind of all its powers of acting and reasoning as fear.” 18th century philosopher Edmund Burke.
Justin Trudeau is behaving like a fascist, while calling the truckers fascists.
Fascism is not an ideology or political strategy but a societal pathology; it is social warfare. Fascism and bullying promote fear and with enough fear people are silenced into submission, giving up their freedom.
I know I keep preaching the need to look back in the past, back at WWII through different eyes and our common experiences with Covid. So many of us remain sanctimonious – we would never behave that way. We would never give our leaders that kind of power.
But, we have in Canada.
In Canada, duly elected leader, Justin Trudeau called on the Emergencies Act to end the protests against his mandates taking place in Canada’s capital city, Ottawa. He did nothing when churches were burning:
“I understand the anger that’s out there against the federal government, against institutions like the Catholic Church. It is real and it’s fully understandable, given the shameful history that we are all becoming more and more aware of and engaging ourselves to do better as Canadians.”
According to the Order in Council associated with the Act, the federal government has power to “regulate or prohibit any public assembly” that “may be expected to lead to a breach of the peace.” He is using scare tactics. No peace has been breached. Keep in mind, although he has enacted them, he needs approval by the Parliament, but that won’t take place for many days.
Once a government has issued an emergency declaration, they have 7 days to table in Parliament a motion outlining the declaration of emergency and the reasons for calling an emergency. Parliament is required to immediately debate this motion. At the conclusion of debate, Parliament will vote on the contents of the motion. If the majority of Parliament votes against the government’s motion, the motion is immediately defeated, and emergency powers are revoked. Does that make sense? He is implementing powers he has not been given by the people. One man, elected with less than 30% of the popular vote, is making decrees and acting on them BEFORE they become law.
And yet, look how many people have caved to Trudeau. They not only caved, they applauded. According to the latest poll, 64% of Canadians agree with the implementation of the Emergency Act. Sixty four percent.
Not only are they in favour of the draconian measures at the same time, 54 per cent of Canadians say they are ‘ashamed’ of how politicians have let the Freedom Convoy protests get out of hand.
Our Government officials call the protest an occupation!!! Right away they give a negative connotation to a peaceful protest so they can go to war against Canadians.
And the media; bought and paid for by the Liberal Party, reprises the accusation, daily. This is the cry of those who want to go to war against their own people. Trudeau’s Public Safety Minister wants you to believe that the protesters were “attacking” the National War Monument. Nonsense. They protect it and keep it clear of snow. The government has now put up a barricade around Parliament Hill; getting ready for…what? Political theatre writ large. They cry that the truckers have taken over our flag and it is now a sign of white supremacy! Calling someone a white supremacist is as popular as calling someone a racist. The media is promoting his hate.
See how easy it is to promote fear for ‘the other.” In WWII, propagandists, led by Goebbels, promoted hate for the other making it possible for hitler to carry on with his horror. No, there is no comparison in the horror department, but this is not about horror – this is about human nature.
Keep in mind, this PM did not have the decency to come out and speak to the truckers-tax-paying citizens. Not our PM, even when they peacefully ended the blockades on the border with America, as asked. Nothing was going to placate Trudeau.
He calls the Truckers racists and misogynists and Nazis. I suggest, Mr.Trudeau, that you look in the mirror. He accused MP Melissa Lantsman, the only Jewish Member of Parliament, of being a Nazi. And when an apology was demanded he walked out.
Ottawa police are telling people they can be arrested and charged if they don’t leave Parliament Hill, where they are peacefully assembling. Two of the convoy leaders have been arrested; Chris Barber and Tamara Lich.
At the same time that he says “We’re not limiting freedom of peaceful assembly” an Ottawa bylaw is warning animal owners at the demonstration that they could lose their pets if the protesters are taken to jail.
“If you are unable to care for your animal as a result of enforcement actions, your animal will be placed into protective care for 8 days, at your cost,” they tweeted. After that, if no arrangements are made, the animal “will be considered relinquished.”
Bill Blair, Trudeau’s minister of emergency preparedness, says police are working with Children’s Aid Society to “encourage anyone with children in the area to leave immediately and to take their kids some place safe.” This in the event that there is a police operation. Oh.
I don’t know about you, but if the police came for my children there would be hell to pay.
More to the point, what is Trudeau planning to do that will make it unsafe for children and animals? What kind of leader threatens children and animals?
The world is looking at us on amazement that these draconian procedures would take place here, in the North, in quiet, unassuming Canada. Well, many in the world are looking, but not Joe Biden. He is too busy with the imminent attack on democratic Ukraine than the actual attack on freedom in the country to the north.
Despite the fact that many premiers said no to the Emergencies Act, Justin Trudeau has put Das Boot on our necks.
Trudeau and the media got their knickers in a knot when Canadians blocked the supply chains at the borders to get his attention about the vaccine mandates for truckers. All experts are saying the pandemic is on the wane and many countries are ending mandates. But not Trudeau. January 15, January 15 he decided that truckers needed a Vaccine Passport to cross borders. These are the same people who crossed Canada and the border at the beginning of Covid when the restaurants were closed as were the gas stations and public bathrooms. The truckers had had enough and had the audacity to protest to have their freedom returned: RETURNED.
Interesting, there was no crie de coeur when the supply chains were destroyed because of China. Did Trudeau do anything? Of course not. He loves China more than his own people.
In the House of Commons Public Safety Minister Marco Mendocino said the Mounties have sent three sets of reinforcements to the Ottawa Police Service, saying the protests have caused “great harm” to local residents.
“Residents are terrorized,” he said. “It is absolutely gut-wrenching to see the sense of abandonment and helplessness that they have felt now for weeks.”
They cry they are fearful of going out, of even walking their dog!
Right, the truckers with their families are terrorizing the residents; streets filled with barbecues, music and playgrounds for their children. Seems the convoy disrupted their lives. Disrupted their lives? A vast number of people in Ottawa work for the government and haven’t lost a paycheck. These truckers delivered everything they needed right to their front door, but now, how dare “these people” take up room in the Capital City of Ottawa?
I’ll tell you; these courageous people are citizens fighting for the right to be free again.
Not only is our PM removing the trucks, he is going after the truckers, themselves. Our dear leader made rules that would destroy the truckers’ livelihoods. Take away their driving license, their insurance. Why his side kick, Himmler, I mean Freeland, a proud member of the board of trustees of WEF is expanding financial powers crafted under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act. She sanctimoniously says they are necessary to end the protest blockades that are “doing great damage to Canada’s economy” and causing serious harm to our economy, to our democratic institutions, and to Canada’s international standing.” These powers include freezing bank accounts of anyone who did not follow orders. The Canadian government is freezing the accounts of hard-working Canadians. And heaven help anyone who donated to the Convoy. The federal government is including crowdfunding platforms and the payment service providers they use under its anti-money laundering and terrorism financing regime.
“These changes cover all forms of transactions, including digital assets such as cryptocurrencies. The illegal blockades have highlighted the fact that crowdfunding platforms, and some of the payment service providers they use, are not fully captured under the proceeds of crime and terrorist financing act,” said Freeland. She feels great sorrow. Well, that makes it better.
This attack on bank accounts is being done despite the fact chief official at the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) has denied claims of foreign extremist funding now being peddled by Liberal politicians and legacy media. FINTRAC Deputy Director of Intelligence Barry MacKillop said that there were no signs that what was happening in Ottawa was a form of ideologically motivated violent extremism.
Denying people access to their money for protesting – not for killing someone, or burning or looting: no, for peacefully protesting.
Of course in the eyes of Freeland and Trudeau, this is appropriate because this is an occupation. What? Like Russia occupying Crimea?
What about the laundering of billions of dollars by China? The mayor of Port Coquitlam, B.C said, “A reminder that organized crime in this country (and others) have laundered BILLIONS through Canadian real estate, casinos & more.”
Trudeau is behaving like your typical despot. This, while America has still not put financial restrictions on Russia to stop them from going to WAR!
This is the same government that had no problem giving 10.5 million to Omar Khadr who killed a soldier in Afghanistan. Trudeau had pointed to the Charter of Rights & Freedom saying that “we have to stand up for everyone’s rights, whether you agree with them or not.”
“That when a government violates a Canadian, any Canadian’s fundamental rights, and allows them to be tortured, there are consequences and we all must pay,” the prime minister told the audience. Oh.
I am distraught that the people of Canada allow this overreach of government over a peaceful protest for freedom.
As I go to publish, Ezra Levant is reporting: The police shut down Parliament. The police shut own the peaceful protest. And now the police are shutting down the reporters covering it all.
Shameful
From the Ethics of the Fathers: “Rabbi Tarfon used to say, it is not incumbent upon you to complete the task, but you are not exempt from undertaking it.”
