There is a marvelous article in The Globe and Mail about the problems with our care of young people who are dealing with mental illness.  It is the story of Katherine Duff, a 16 year old who knew she was in trouble, whose family new that she needed help. They were desperately trying to keep her alive. Her demons were destroying her.

Unfortunately, she was not able to access the care she needed, here in Canada.

It is a travesty that we cannot take care of our own. We have brilliant people, researchers, extraordinary facilities.

She was fortunate that her family was able to pay for costly treatment in the United States. But that is not acceptable. We sya we have a health care system that is universal-no one left behind.
