The subtitle of this book is "Understanding the American Evangelical Relationship with God." T.M.Lurmann takes you to Evangelical Churches, and groups of Evangelicals to understand their way of connecting to God. I think of it as the most immanent connection for one is taught how to connect with God as a personal friend. I couldn't finish the book because it was too repetitive for me. And I do not have that type of relationship with God. Mine is more transcendent. But I recommend this book for those of you who are feeling lost and want a closer connection to God. It is a beginning. If this calls to you then you will have a path to the place of worship that is best for you.
