You are to be a Light unto the Nations.

“…Christians are being killed in the Islamic world because of their religion. It is a rising genocide that ought to provoke global alarm… In recent years the violent oppression of Christian minorities has become the norm in Muslim-majority nations stretching from West Africa and the Middle East to South Asia and Oceania. In some countries it is governments and their agents that have burned churches and imprisoned parishioners. In others, rebel groups and vigilantes have taken matters into their own hands, murdering Christians and driving them from regions where their roots go back centuries.” So wrote Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

This is a concern for all of us because we are living through a religious crusade by militant Islamists set out to destroy Western culture and Christianity. To pretend otherwise is to be cowed by the politically correct moral relativists who believe that all cultures are equal and declare that speaking ill of Islam is to be “Islamophobic.” We are nice in the West and don’t want to be viewed as intolerant so this label guilts us into silence-we don’t want to be accused of not liking Muslims simply for being Muslims, rather than the truth that there is a fear and dislike of Islam because of wanton terrorism.

The “Islamophobic” propaganda is being delivered by Saudi Arabia through its financial support for Western Islamic Studies throughout the Western world. It is beyond the pale, that we in the West allow the number one exporter of Wahhabism-militant, Islamic Jihadism to fund Western Islamic Studies in universities including   Georgetown, the oldest Catholic University, University of Southern California, Duke, Harvard, and Cornell University  in the United States to St. Andrews University, the third most important in the British academy, the London School of Economics, Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, University College London, Exeter, Dundee and City. They are becoming a fifth column against Western Culture.

In the October/November Convivium, Barbara Kay, a columnist for Canada’s National Post, wrote about this infiltration of bias into our universities. She quoted Andrew Bieszad’s comments about his class on interfaith dialogue with Muslims and other Christians at Hartford Seminary. Here are some of the comments made to him after he said that he was Catholic and didn’t believe in Islam.

“You are an infidel because you do not accept Islam.”

“According to Islam, you do not deserve to live.”

“You deserve to die on account of your disagreement with Islam.”

Uncomfortable in an environment promoting freedom to attack Christians and the fear of non-Muslims offending Muslims (which leads to an intellectual chill), he turned to the administration who informed him that it was his problem; he was “intolerant” and needed “a better understanding of Islam.”

This is the new “tolerance” being taught in our edifices of higher learning.  It’s OK to belittle and demean Christianity and Judaism but not a negative word about Islam. Ms. Kay wrote about the Oxford Union debate in May that took place the day after the savage beheading   May 22, 2013 of a British soldier in London. The statement for debate:

“This house believes that Islam is a religion of peace.”

And the sense in the room was that to vote against the motion was to open the door to accusations of “Islamophobia.” The politically correct dogma of inclusive, tolerant, accommodating, in the name of moral relativism blasted a chill over the room. The vote: Yes 286  No168.

We are exhorted to be sensible to the feelings of people. I am sensitive. I understand the hurt feelings of the vast majority of Muslims. One can easily understand the hurt feelings because in the name of Islam torture and murder are taking place all over the world. How embarrassing and painful-but true.

Sunday, September 22  in Peshawar, PAKISTAN, Islamists blew themselves up, killing 90 Christians and injuring 120 more.Saturday, September 21 – Nairobi, KENYA Jihadist members of Somalia’s al-Shabab took hundreds of hostages and killed 67 Christians at the Westgate Mall, after people who identified themselves as Muslims, and who could give the name of Mohamed’s mother were allowed to leave.

Wednesday, September 18 – Maaloula, SYRIA, Islamists attacked the 2000 year-old village leaving a ghost town. Sixty percent of Syrian Christians have left Syria. Wednesday, September 25 – Derna District, LIBYA, two Christian men, Waleed Saad Shaker, age 25, and Nash ‘at Shenouda Ishaq, age 27, traveling on a rural road were robbed and tied up by a crowd of Muslim men. The Muslims demanded they recite the shahada, the declaration of conversion to Islam. When the Christians refused, they were shot. Shakar died before they were found by a shepherd. Ishaq died in hospital.

A local government official in central Bangladesh halted the construction of a church, forced Christians to worship at a mosque and threatened them with eviction from their village unless they renounced their faith.

The world averted its eyes during the Holocaust and then while Jews were thrown out of their homes in Muslim countries after 1948.  Today, Muslims are attacking the Christians-the infidels in their midst.

Where are the protests? Where are the demands for boycott, sanctions and divestment from countries that harbour these terrorists?

Where are the Christians?

A Christian prelate worried” “Targeted Christian communities might face still more danger if voices are raised.”

Have we learned nothing from history?

Christians are being murdered for being Christian by militant followers of Islam. The attacks are increasing throughout the Middle East and Africa.

It behooves all of us to scream in outrage at the murderous attacks by Muslim terrorists on innocent civilians-women and children that include torture, no matter their religion or ethnicity. It is taking place with impunity around the world.

Where is your outrage?
